Punjabi Essay Competition at Ottawa Gurdwara Saibh in 2019

During the Guru Nanak Dev Ji Birthday celebrations in 2019, an essay competiton in Punjabi was conducted by the Ottawa Gurudawara Saibh to encourage the youth in public speaking, to strengthen the hold over Punjabi language, vocabulary and oral presentation. Many local kids participated, 5 were short listed for the 2nd round, where in they were encourage to write and deliver a speech on the life of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji.

It was a well organized event and there was great enthusiasm and fierce competition among the candidates. The difference was very minor and the judges had a tough time selecting the top three positions. All finalists were awarded with a certificate and a cash award by the Sikh Sangat of Ottawa.

Lost Heritage fund rising – books on historical Gurdawars in Pakistan in 2020

“Allegory – A Tapestry of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Travels”, a 24 episode docuseries, sequentially explores Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s life events to unfurl the deep imports of his messages.

Sewak is proud to share that with the help of the Ottawa Sangat, we were able to invite Bhai Paramjit Singh Ji to share a sikh discouse(Katha) for the local sangat at the Ottawa Gurudawara Saibh. Many came and listen to Bhai saibh ji, and participated in the Naam Simran. Bhai Saibh laid stress on Sikh values, virtues and way of life. How Sewa and Simmran are the two legs of Sikhi on which a Sikh Stands.

Mata Ravinder Kaur Medical Aid (Blood clots in legs)

A request for help came to Sewak from the daughter and Son-in law of Mata Ravinder Kaur Ji, a well to do middle class business family that lost its fight partly to covid and partly to the overbearing costs of the medical bills of Mata Ji. Accessing the situation quickly the Sewak team in India presented the case to the Board, we dispatched instant medical aid for her immediate operation but a few days later she passed away as Sewak was preparing for her second operation due to complications in the other body parts.
